EG Parks and Rec on the Go
"Bringing the fun to your front door!"
Did you know EG Parks and Rec has 500 acres of public space??? And many of these are in our lovely neighborhoods. The EG Parks and Rec on the Go program is an opportunity to introduce neighborhoods to parks and public spaces right outside their front door!
PR on the Go will visit as many neighborhoods as possible throughout the calendar year. These would take place once per month, on Wednesdays evenings from May to October.
What does a Parks and Rec on the Go event include?
- You tell us!!! Each event can be customized to the public space its utilizing. If at a pond, it could include fishing. If along a trail in the woods, it could include a nature walk. It could also include “standard” park and rec elements like sports, games, arts/crafts, music, water etc.
Park and Rec on the Go, Kickoff Contest
- In order to enter the Kickoff Contest:
- We are encouraging Township neighborhoods to create a video describing why their neighborhood should host the kickoff event.
- Must be filmed at the Township owned public space you are nominating.
- Name a Planning Committee of at least three adults and two children (8+). The Planning Committee would help Jason/Jess develop the event, market it to the neighborhood etc. For the kids, it would be a chance to shape the fun and develop some leadership skills.
- Discuss the kickoff event with affected houses. These would most likely be the 2-3 houses directly across from a public space. Jason can help with this interaction.
- Entry Deadline: March 19, 2026
The Park Commission will view all video and submission materials at its April 2026 meeting and make the Kickoff selection. We will then work with all other neighborhoods to create the overall 2026 PR on the go calendar.
